Keeley’s Canny Manny
They are fast becoming the accessory of choice for busy working mothers. And Ashes to Ashes star Keeley Hawes is more than happy that, when it comes to child care, a ‘manny’ — not a nanny — is best.
The actress and mother-of-three has employed her male nanny for the past year.
‘He is brilliant,’ she tells meat the launch of the Omega Constellation watch collection.
‘All the nannies I interviewed for the position came with huge books full of glittery pictures that children had made them, which I thought was a bit creepy.
‘He came with a book full of police checks. I like that. From that moment, I couldn’t imagine my kids being in the hands of anyone else.’
On the subject of her flourishing career, Keeley adds: ‘I am a workaholic. Sometimes I am out six times a week. ‘I even worked when I was pregnant — if I didn’t get a part for a pregnant lady, I would settle for parts where I was supposed to look like I ate all the pies!’
