What Katy Did (1999)

A children’s programme filmed in Canada and broadcast on ITV in the 1999/2000 Christmas season. A Canadian-British co-production between Catalyst Entertainment Production and Tetra Films. Interestingly, it stars Alison Pill (Queen Maud in The Pillars of the Earth) as Katy and Michael Cera as Dorry Carr.

First mentioned in a Radio Times feature on Wives and Daughters.

Keeley Hawes, who plays Molly Gibson’s spirited young daughter Cynthia, is one of Britain’s hottest actresses. Immediately after filming Wives and Daughters, she flew off to Canada to make the children’s series What Katy Did for ITV. But she is down to earth about her fame, “If tomorrow it all stopped, I wouldn’t be surprised,” she says. “I used to care so much about what people thought of me. But you can’t be loved by everybody!”
