ITV dramas head into US pilot season

Identity, the UK drama about identity theft from Waking the Dead scribe Ed Whitmore, is the latest ITV format heading into US pilot season.

The ABC network has ordered a pilot for a US series based on the drama, with Mark Gordon Company producing and Paul Buccieri, CEO of ITV Studios America, sharing exec production duties with Gordon.

The UK show launched on ITV1 last summer and starred Aidan Gillen and Keeley Hawes. ITV confirmed that the show had been cancelled in October after a single season.

The show is being adapted by Eagle Eye scribe John Glenn but further details of the US pilot are unclear. However, the deal marks the second ITV drama format to be picked up for US pilot season in as many weeks.

NBC last week okayed a reboot of a pilot based on UK crime perennial Prime Suspect, with Alexandra Cunningham, Sarah Aubrey and Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) exec producing. Universal Media Studios will co-produce with ITV Studios America.

NBC first picked up Prime Suspect for local adaptation in 2009 but the show fell by the wayside after Julianne Moore reportedly turned down the lead role.
