Talent

Keeley appeared in James’ Shes’s a Star video earlier this year — and no-one could of fitted the role more perfectly. The star of Dennis Potter’s Karaoke — she was Richard E Grant’s mistress — is next set to make a major impression in The BBC’s big August bank holiday two-parter The Beggar Bride as an East-End girl who gets involved with a shady businessman.

To prove she’s the in-demand woman of the moment, she’s also been forming a small but perfectly-formed role in The Avengers as the secretary who John Steed [Ralph Fiennes] fancies the leather pants off.

London-based Keeley, 21, studied acting at Sylvia Young’s theatre school with classmates Samantha Janus, Denise Van Outen and Baby Spice. She still sees the latter [“for a little natter and half a glass of wine”] from time to time. “i don’t really hang out with actors,” says the down-to-earth girl, who’s dad and two brothers are both cabbies. “i prefer going to bars with old mates.” Next up is the filming of Our Mutual Friend for the BBC and then? “you can’t set your hopes to high in a job like this.” Oh, but you can — and Keeley can surpass all of them.
